Earlier today, I took a Covid antigen rapid test. It came back negative. This suggests that I have beaten Covid, with thanks to vaccines for making this very mild and of short duration.
Continue readingFrom Urgent Care to Isolation: My Covid Story
17 JanI went to urgent care this past Wednesday. I was not feeling well, and had been having symptoms I associated with a probable UTI. While I was there, I was asked if I would like to have a Covid and flu test. I agreed. No harm, right? Well, I didn’t have a UTI after all. Just the standard bladder stuff I was already dealing with. But there was news.
Continue readingCT Scan And PTSD
10 JanThis past Wednesday, I went early to the hospital for a CT scan. It’s to eliminate various possible causes for the bleeding I experienced from my urinary tract. That has actually stopped on it’s own already. In an abundance of caution, the urologist still wanted to check. I’m fairly convinced it was a kidney (or bladder) stone passing. But since no stone was seen, a look around inside is appropriate. The order was for “CT with and without contrast.”
Continue readingNever Say Never
6 JanA good friend told me last year to “Never say never.” She was talking about love and relationships. I poo-pooed her admonishment at the time. The universe had other plans. Or as we pagans are prone to say “Make plans and the Gods laugh.”

2 JanThis is going to be a heavily TMI post about bladder issues and unique challenges I am facing as a trans woman who has bladder problems. You have been warned, and this is your “Get Out of Jail Free” card. Eject now, for there will be no further warnings.

Continue readingCoping with Bladder Problems: From Diagnosis to Management
23 DecIn the ongoing saga of my bladder problems, I saw my urologist today for a test to determine if BPH was indeed the source of my problems. The short answer is that is not the cause at all. I have to get a couple of more tests still.

17 DecThis time of year, when everyone is joyous and excited for the holidays, is difficult for me. I have been single for over 14 years. Well, technically that’s not true, but the few flings in that time were fleeting and ultimately inconsequential. I am perpetually separated from family. They all live in Texas, which is a “Do Not Travel” state for people like me. If you missed that, you can see the latest risk map here.
Continue readingImpact of Political Rhetoric on Hate Crimes Against Transgender Communities
14 DecToday I read an article about the increase in hate crimes against transgender people in LA county. One of the most progressive states in the nation, and yet, hate crimes in that county are up 125% in 2023 over the previous year. That’s a staggering number, and that was before people like me were used by Trump and his surrogates as a political football.
Continue readingThe Case for the Equal Rights Amendment: Understanding Ratification
13 Dec
A compelling case can be made that the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) has actually been ratified. The only remaining step in its adoption is publication in the Federal Register. There is a move afoot to pressure President Biden to do that before the end of his term as President.
