Thank you, Janet. I went and read Amanda’s post, and I agree.
I know; I stuck up for the books a while back on Scottie’s, and I’ll still not take away a HP book from an abused/neglected child who finds hope in the stories, but I also encourage exploring other sets of books that can help in the same ways without incurring harm on others.
It is as Amanda wrote: JKR has intensified her hatred; also, we are different people now compared to past years. It’s a progress I’ve made, especially after realizing it’s the same thing as when I found out that Marian Zimmer Bradley enabled and even participated in child molestation. All those Avalon books, sob! But, lo and behold, within a year there were new sets of the story written by women who wrote damned good books and also protected instead of hurt children. Same with some of the YA fantasy books I’ve read over the past 2-3 years. They can replace the HP books. And JKR can take her money and privilege and go join others like herself, leaving the rest of us alone.
