Follow up to my recent post about bladder issues. It seems likely that things are getting worse quicker than I had hoped.
Today, I woke up to an aching pain in the location of my left kidney. The only other symptom is a couple of drops of dried blood in my underwear this morning. No fever or any other symptoms that would make this urgent. I’ll call my urologist’s office first thing Monday morning in any case. I really hope this doesn’t end up sending me to an ER.
I guess it’s a good thing that the urologist did that test and discovered my problem. The followup tests she had me schedule are on 19-Dec and 23-Dec. If I am lucky, maybe this pain will go away before the morning. It could be a kidney stone, which would not be fun, but could pass on its own. I do also have mild gout, which predisposes me to kidney stones. More likely though, is urinary retention, which I already know I have.
In any case, it’s not urgent, yet. The journey continues, if uncomfortably so at the moment.
Yeesh. I’m so sorry! Here’s to being able to deal with this at home without any bad events, and some comfort, as well.

Thanks Ali. I took two Extra Strength Tylenol about 8:30am. They seem to be helping a bit. It’s not gone, but a bit less uncomfortable.

So sorry you are once again having problems. I really hope that it can all be taken care of without hospitals.

Hospitals are almost certainly in my future. The question is whether it’s this coming week, or right after New Year’s Day. Either long term solution is almost certain to involve hospitalization, and I would prefer the surgery to the catheter long term.

Update: I did let the urologist know. It’s better today. No blood, and very little pain. The response was “Just monitor, and let us know if you think you need an appointment.” So I was correct in the belief that it wasn’t urgent.
