Hate is a powerful drug, and many Americans are sadly addicted to it. That said, there is some good news even now. Just yesterday, HRC issued a press release that gave me a bit of hope. This came at an opportune time, as quite honestly, I was beginning to lose hope.
The news release talks about a recent poll from Data For Progress. It suggests that the recent spate of anti-trans ads blanketing the airwaves are incredibly ineffective. I’ll highlight an important take-away for you here.
The use of political attack ads against transgender people was described as “sad and shameful” by the majority of Democrats (61%) and Independents (58%), and even by a plurality of Republicans (41%). The majority of voters also said that they feel that these ads are “mean-spirited” and “out of hand”
I was really pleased to see this today. I had promised myself I would avoid politics until after the election. I took this step because I was getting very burned out. The aforementioned hate came from the Republican Party and the Trumpists were the primary reason for my burnout.
Of course, there will still be folks who are persuaded by this hate. Those are almost certainly members of the Trump cult. Nothing is going to change those hard-hearted bigots’ minds. They love Trump precisely because he appears to hate the same people they do.
I say “appears”, because I truly think he is manipulating his followers. He’s really no different than any other cult leader in that respect. He’s an authoritarian. He just wants power, and he will say and do whatever he thinks will give him what he seeks.
It is still of the utmost importance that decent people get out and vote against him and his ilk. A bit of good news, while helpful, won’t be what changes this country, and it won’t save this democracy. That’s up to you. So if you haven’t already done so, get out there and vote.
Vote your conscience. If you follow me, I believe your conscience will guide you to vote for the Harris / Walz ticket. Take things a step farther, and vote Blue in every ballot on the ticket. Ultimately, it’s going to take a massive defeat to stop this insanity.
The journey continues.
Early voting complete – registered independent – voted democrat all the way. We need sanity – not hate and violence. Blessed be.

Thank you Heather. You’ll have noted, no doubt, I didn’t specify how anyone should be registered. I believe that many Independents and Republicans can see what’s going on here. We need to come together as a nation to defeat this sickness.
