Yes, you read that correctly. A school board in SW Pennsylvania spent money to cut windows into student bathrooms so that passersby could look into the so-called “gender-identity” bathrooms. As you might imagine, that didn’t go over well.
They spent $8,700 to install those windows. In a middle school. Board President Matthew Gelazela said in a public meeting that the windows help “[add] privacy in the toilet facility”. He refused to explain his logic, because, let’s face it, this is the opposite of logic. It’s anti-logic. Logic is annihilated by anti-logic.
So on to the latest news, with thanks to Scottie’s Playtime. The unsurprising public outcry has apparently forced a reversal of this illogical decision. According to the York Dispatch, parents have confirmed that the windows have been boarded up.
I saw the original decision in another news story last week, but could not bring myself to post about it. The level of nastiness required to treat gender expansive middle school kids like this was just more than I cared to contemplate.
Now that some degree of sanity has returned to the situation, I am able to mentally deal with this. It’s heartening to see that, somehow, logic and decency prevailed in the end.
The journey continues, with just a bit more sanity in the world.
I honestly do not understand the absolute hatred of non-binary people. It has no bearing on their lives, so why the hatred?

Neither do I. It makes no sense. But I will say that certain politicians need a scapegoat, any scapegoat, in order to gain and hold power. Whether it’s Jewish people, Blacks, or LGBT, it’s a theme that recurs throughout history.
And oh BTW: The better inclusive term is gender nonconforming. Non-binary people are those who identify as neither male nor female, often somewhere in between. thank you for being an ally. 🫂

Hi. Janet I bet the next school board election will be well voted on and these conservative bigots will lose their jobs. These people do this, they sneak in when voting turn out is low, get in and try to do as mach damage as possible to the communities they dislike or hate. They go way too far way too fast and refuse to listen to the community that wants them to stop their religious crusade against the LGBTQ+ students. If the trend holds the next election they stand for they will lose their seats on the board. It is happening even in red states like Florida. Hopefully these haters can also be driven out. Hugs.
