An Aging Trans Woman 
Hi Janet. Thank you for this resource. I consider myself to be pretty trans supportive, as I am with all the LGBTQ+. But even with all I have read and researched / watched many trans positive videos, I still have questions or things I don’t know. Never on the rights of trans people, not on their place in our society, but how it all feels / works. The same kind of questions that well-meaning straight friends are struggling to understand how it feels / works to be gay. I love learning all I can to be the best ally I can be for trans people. I hope you get some benefit from it, Scottie. That said, on my Mastodon profile, I wrote “Ask Me Anything.” Yes, if it gets too personal, I may say exactly that. But one of the reasons for my blog is so that cis allies can understand people like me a little better.
Tilly does an incredible job of educating people, both cis and (not yet recognized) trans people. I’m happy to share it. And the fact that you can find my name on the About page of that site has absolutely nothing to do with it. 😊

Hi Janet. I never thought of that, young people who are trans need the information that might be hard to come by for them depending on where they live or how their parents react to them. It is wonderful there are people like you and Tilly providing that for them. I remember as a young confused gay boy before the internet in a homophobic community having no resource or person to answer the million questions I had. Thank both of you for the grand work you do getting that information out. Hugs. Scottie

TBH: My involvement in Tilly’s site was effectively as a typist. I helped convert it from a series of tweet streams and Google docs to WordPress. But I do the best I can on my own site to share relevant information. Thanks.

Also, I’ve only ever met transwomen, as far as I’m aware; it makes how to treat them easier, because the Golden Rule definitely applies to women, for me! 😉 I figure people share what they want to share.

So I went directly to “Microagressions” to see what I’ve done that I will not do again, and there it was, sort of. I haven’t told anyone anything along the lines of “welcome to being a woman,” but have said things like, “avoid the high heels,” and that the women’s room is a whole other world from the men’s. Of course, in recent times, places have made the women’s rooms more useful for more women, so I haven’t said anything about women’s rooms in a while. I won’t elaborate, but this site is a great tool-thank you again!

In my opinion, you are a lovely ally. I’m glad you are finding Tilly’s site useful. It was a rather significant project to make all of that content available in WordPress. It was originally threads on Xitter and a collection of Google Docs. Now that it’s on WP, it is so much more accessible, and that’s a recent development. So, of course I shared it. Blessings. 💜 😘

Well, thank you. My spirit is not agressive, just sometimes dumb (like “Stupid Things White Girls Say” dumb, and yes, I’ve said dumb things before to about anyone who isn’t me. Also to me, but that’s a whole other thing. Anyway!)
I learned a thing from Ellen Degeneres once; she was sort of making fun of packaged peeled and sectioned oranges. I thought that was a neat concept, being an after school tutor who could have run a side gig doing that to oranges. But the next day, she apologized, and said she’d heard from a person who was unable to peel an orange, and unable to eat one if it wasn’t sectioned, due to health condition. That had never occurred to her, and she was so sorry-that aspect had never occurred to her. (I also haven’t seen those oranges in the market in years, now.) I’ve tried harder to think a little more before spouting, but I still say stupid stuff sometimes. I just have to hope I don’t hurt, and if I do, that my apology when I realize I hurt somehow helps to heal. And I’d rather be told that I’ve said something inappropriately; I’d rather learn to relate than get angry at someone to whom I’ve unintentionally been rude.
