This past Wednesday morning, I experienced another period of continuing palpitations. My cardiac team got back to me this morning, and let me know that what was happening was premature atrial contractions.
Continue readingHeat Stress follow-up
15 JulYou may have seen my previous post about “Heat stress as a spoonie.” Apparently, the recent changes I demanded to the implantable loop recorder (ILR) that I received back on 30-April, have already had an impact.
Continue readingHeat stress as a spoonie
14 JulIt’s well into the afternoon of the third day of 90+ F (32+ C) temps with no air conditioning. I’ve just taken a cold shower to try to alleviate the obvious heat stress I’m experiencing. It doesn’t seem to have made much difference.
Continue readingAFib Again
18 JunI spent a little over 3 hours in an ER today because of a prolonged AFib episode. I tried to wait it out for a couple of hours before giving in and going. I don’t think I’ll wait that long next time. I’m exhausted and I think I’ve triggered another fibromyalgia flare.
I’m home and resting.
Bradycardia episode
12 JunI had an episode this afternoon where for roughly an hour, my heart rate dropped to 30bpm. This is according to my smartwatch readout. You may remember that I have experienced some bradycardia in the past year, and it’s part of why I had a loop recorder implanted in my chest recently. Never before has such an episode lasted this long though.
Continue readingResults of Cardiac CT
13 DecI spoke to my cardiologist a little while ago about the results of my cardiac CT on Monday. He’s concerned mostly, as far as those results, about enlargement of the aortic artery, and also some fairly significant calcification (stenosis) of the aortic valve. He has ordered an additional test regarding those conditions.
Continue readingSpoonie News – Seizure?
2 NovI apparently had another seizure early this morning. I spent at least six hours in a severe postictal state. Most of that time was spent essentially unconscious (very deep sleep). It was around 3 pm before I woke and felt mostly normal. I still have a bit of a headache, but that’s normal for me.
During the time I was conscious this morning, I was nauseous, vomiting, and so dizzy I could barely stand. Actually I couldn’t sit either, not even long enough to urinate. As soon as I got back to horizontal, and in bed, the dizziness, etc. stopped and I passed out within minutes.
No, I didn’t call the neurologist. He didn’t even respond to my call to the nurse back on June 5-6 when nearly the exact same thing happened. At least today I didn’t injure myself from convulsions. I have no memory of the seizure itself, but that too is normal for me. I never remember anything but the postictal period.
I didn’t feel like eating after I finally woke up, so today was a fasting day. I drank about 2/3 a normal day’s water. I’ll be going back to sleep relatively soon. I’m in bed with lights out while I type this.
I promise, I’m okay. Just another fun day in spoonie land.
Another ER visit
13 AprTo start with, I’m fine. I went on Monday 12-April, and ended up spending the entire day getting checked out. I checked in at 11:45am. It was about 6:00 pm when I was released.
Continue readingHRT and Epilepsy
1 FebTIL. Well, okay, yesterday I learned. No, not from the doctor. I just had begun to notice that my breasts seem to be growing again. As it happens, I’ve got an appointment with an endo who specializes in transgender HRT on next Monday. So I decided to search hormones and epilepsy. This might be about to get interesting, in the “May you live in interesting times” curse definition of interesting.
