HRT / Endocrinology Followup

23 Oct

I saw my endocrinologist this morning, in person, for the first time since the pandemic started. We’d been in touch via telemedicine / patient portal messaging, but it’s always nice to have that personal touch occasionally. His location is inconvenient, and he only sees patients on Monday mornings. He is absolutely worth the hassle.

Sore equal more?

12 Mar

Sore = more, right? I’ve noticed some breast tenderness over the last couple of weeks, and I have been hesitant to say anything. I didn’t want to jinx it. So, here’s a new photo taken today.

MRI of my brain

9 Feb

I had two appointments scheduled for yesterday. The second of those was for an MRI of my brain, looking for abnormalities that might explain my recent development of a seizure disorder. Bottom line: No abnormalities. No tumors, lesions, or evidence of prior stroke.

Gender Center appointment

9 Feb

I had two appointments scheduled for yesterday. The first of those was an initial consult with a doctor in the Grady Hospital Gender Center. Basically, he’s a specialist in transgender internal medicine.

Today’s appointments

8 Feb

I’ll write more later. For now, the MRI found no structural abnormality. This is good news. No tumors, lesions, etc.

Additionally, I like the new Gender Specialist doctor. I can work with him.

So all in all, good outcomes.

Respected Elder

6 Feb

Today, someone I’ve known for maybe a dozen years, who recently came to modern Paganism, referred to me, unironically, as a “respected elder”. I truly never believed I’d hear anything like that again.

HRT and Epilepsy

1 Feb

TIL. Well, okay, yesterday I learned. No, not from the doctor. I just had begun to notice that my breasts seem to be growing again. As it happens, I’ve got an appointment with an endo who specializes in transgender HRT on next Monday. So I decided to search hormones and epilepsy. This might be about to get interesting, in the “May you live in interesting times” curse definition of interesting.

Mike Huckabee lauds ousting of Iowa justices over gay marriage, courts evangelicals

Mike Huckabee lauds ousting of Iowa justices over gay marriage, courts evangelicals.

Mike Huckabee is one scary guy. And this isn’t a recent revelation for me. Allow me to direct you to my past commentary on his 2008 Presidential run. Pay particular attention to An Alternative Future History. Change a few minor details, and this is still a very real scenario. The people in question (Palin, Huckabee) really do seem to believe that a Christian theocracy is the only thing that would “save this nation” from itself.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

21 Nov

Last night, I attended the Houston Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremony on the campus of the University of Houston. I had the good fortune of being in the right place at the right time, and ended up attending with Vanity Wilde and some of her friends. If I hadn’t gone with them, I probably wouldn’t have been able to attend. Read elsewhere about my ongoing medical issues. That’s not what this post is about. Continue reading
