This past Thursday afternoon I received vaccine for RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). RSV is a respiratory virus that for most people is mild and causes cold-like symptoms. For older people, though, it can be more serious. More about the virus at the link.
Continue readingFollowup on Estrogen Patches
14 NovLast month, I wrote about the expectation of receiving estrogen patches to replace the tablets I have taken since 28-July-2011. I haven’t written about them since, primarily because I still have not received them.
Continue readingTwo Vaccines at One Go
26 OctYesterday, I went down to the local pharmacy, at 4pm, to get the current flu vaccine, and a Covid booster (Pfizer). Like with the Shingrix vaccine, the injections themselves were not a particularly big deal.
Continue readingHRT / Endocrinology Followup
23 OctI saw my endocrinologist this morning, in person, for the first time since the pandemic started. We’d been in touch via telemedicine / patient portal messaging, but it’s always nice to have that personal touch occasionally. His location is inconvenient, and he only sees patients on Monday mornings. He is absolutely worth the hassle.

21 OctWhen I was maybe 13, I had to get a “physical” exam because I was going to play middle school football. Right. Still masking, so ultra masculine activity. Anyway, I was referred, by a coach, to an older pediatrician that the team used regularly for said physicals.

11 MarMostly uneventful. Discussed the side effects I’ve been experiencing from Keppra. He offered a few alternative choices. I’m to review them and their potential side effects. If I decide to change, I can let him know and we’ll go forward from there. I’ll probably do that over the weekend.
Continue readingEMS Bill
23 FebOver the weekend, I received the bill from the EMS company for my ambulance trip to the emergency room in October. It’s $1916.80. The trip was 4 miles, according to that bill. They charge $30.70 per mile for the actual transport. The rest, $1794, was for “ER Assessment”, whatever that is. I mean, sure, the EMT did check me out at the scene, for like 10 minutes. Is almost $1800 a fair price to pay for that?
Continue readingMRI of my brain
9 FebI had two appointments scheduled for yesterday. The second of those was for an MRI of my brain, looking for abnormalities that might explain my recent development of a seizure disorder. Bottom line: No abnormalities. No tumors, lesions, or evidence of prior stroke.
