It’s been a while. I’ve been laying low, but on this day, I will peek out from my hidey-hole for just a moment.
This Trans Day of Visibility, I am 67, almost 68, years old. I am in year 17 of my transition. I began HRT 14+ years ago. I suppose this makes me a “trans elder.” As such, I can state unequivocally that times now are the hardest I have faced in my transition. Some things are much better though. The “Real Life Experience” is no longer required of those who wish to begin HRT. Despite the legal assaults upon our community here in the USA, overall acceptance has improved.
I encourage you to hold onto hope for the future. I have seen much, and I still believe we will see better days ahead. It will require work, no doubt, but “we shall overcome“, as the great MLK Jr. said.
