Strides Pharma Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of its Testosterone Gel 1% products in both the United States and Canada due to the detection of trace amounts of benzene, a known human carcinogen, in certain lots. The recall affects both 2.5-gram and 5-gram unit-dose packets, widely used in gender-affirming hormone therapy for transgender men and some transgender women.
I don’t know any trans women who use T gel. Nevertheless, this is important for transgender men, so heads up!
Hi Janet. Thank you for this post. Sadly I have had to be on testosterone for several years. I am not able to use the patches due to health issues so I have to do the injections … every two weeks. Because the stuff is a thick oil based liquid the smallest gauge needle that will work to inject it which it barely does is a 24. It hurts when I put the needle in and sometimes takes two hands to push the plunger. I use an 18 gauge to draw it up. Thankfully I have not heard of any issues with it other than the state acting like it is the most dangerous drug in the world. Seriously. The hoops I have to jump through to get it is incredible. They are so afraid that it will be used for a trans person that they make it hard to get, hard to reorder, and I have to keep justifying it with the pharmacy every time I need a new prescription. Hugs
Hi Janet. Yes but when I asked the pharmacy at the normal one I use before I transferred the prescription to a different company pharmacy. I asked them if the reason that they were making it so difficult to get the drug filled was due to trans hate … she nodded to me while say she wouldn’t have that info. I switched that prescription to a different pharmacy and have no problems. By all the dogs that love gravy I do not understand this unreasonable fear straight cis Christian men have over trans people. It creeps me out. I hope you are well. Hugs.
I am a well educated woman, a lesbian, and an eclectic Pagan. I am loving and giving. I am a caretaker type, who often fails miserably at self care. I have fibromyalgia, seizure disorder, and AFib.
I am complex, complicated, and worth the effort.
BENZENE????????? For crap sake, are they trying to kill people?

It’s ridiculous how T is treated as a controlled substance. Simply because some athletes abuse it as a performance enhancer.
