There are no trans women competing in the Olympics this year, despite the vile nonsense you may have heard.
Charlotte Clymer does a good job of addressing the current (made-up) controversy in the Women’s Boxing event, so I’m going to allow her to speak for me on this one shortly. I do want to take a moment, though, to say this: The segregation of many women’s sports is born purely of patriarchy. It has nothing to do with the sports, and quite honestly, is degrading to women. It assumes that no women can ever be physically competitive with any man. Pardon my French, but BULLSHIT.
And another thing: The fact is, and always has been, that anti-trans bigotry hurts many cis women who don’t meet “traditional” beauty standards. That includes strong and/or tall women, butch lesbians, women who have deep voices (yes, it does happen). I’m sure that you, my dear readers, can think of further examples.
So, without further ado, I’ll hand the mic over to Charlotte.
Thank you, Janet. This is the perfect post on the subject, and I reblogged it. You are absolutely correct about the segregation, too.

I’m glad you liked it. And Charlotte’s take on the Olympics kerfuffle is excellent.
