I had an episode this afternoon where for roughly an hour, my heart rate dropped to 30bpm. This is according to my smartwatch readout. You may remember that I have experienced some bradycardia in the past year, and it’s part of why I had a loop recorder implanted in my chest recently. Never before has such an episode lasted this long though.
I transmitted the readings from the recorder to the cardiac doctor’s office. I also messaged the doctor via the portal to let them know I had sent that transmission.
It started with what I thought was me falling asleep at my (Work From Home) desk. I startled “awake”, realized I was feeling exhausted, and went to lie down in my bed. I had limited awareness of what was going on until I started to come out of it at about 1:45pm.
I checked the health app (Samsung) curious as to how long I had slept in that “nap”. That’s when I noticed the heart rate recording showed that 30 bpm reading over a two hour window. Dug in a little deeper and discovered it was from about 12:27pm until 1:25pm. That’s roughly when I started to regain awareness of my surroundings.
Followup:
I got a response from the doctor’s office already. They are having the transmission sent to them for review by the doctor. More significantly, though, per the RN:
So that’s fun. Maybe a bit more significant than I thought.

Well, that’s interesting. According to my implanted recorder, nothing happened. The assumption, per cardiology, is that my watch was just wrong. In other words, it’s all in my head, again.

Well, I think you keep erring on the side of caution. Please. 💜
