Just found out when my appointment with the HMO psychiatrist is. My PCP referred me for treatment of the withdrawal from Cymbalta, and evaluation as to need for any other treatment for depression. So how important is treatment for symptoms of physical withdrawal?
As you probably know, today is the 18th of November. My appointment? It’s the 7th of December. For those who don’t want to count the days, let me do it for you. That’s 20 days from today. Now mind you, my first call to this psychiatrist office (which they deny receiving) was Tuesday the 16th. So even giving them the benefit of the doubt that their voice-mail system malfunctioned, HMO patients wait 3 weeks to be seen for debilitating effects of another doctor’s ordered abrupt withdrawal from a psychoactive drug.
Who says we don’t have the best health care system in the world? Good thing I’m not in socialist Canada with those terrible waits for access to needed medical care. /sarcasm
An Aging Trans Woman 
Heard from my PCP doc’s office a few minutes ago. See, I called and let her know I wasn’t going to see a psych for 20 days. I have an appointment in the morning at 9:45 am with her to discuss alternatives. She’s a good doctor, constrained by the stupid policies of the HMO.
