Just last month, President Bush signed into law a bill that never passed the House. The bill — in this case, a major budget-cutting measure that will affect millions of Americans — became a law because it was “certified” by the leaders of the House and Senate.

Has it really come to this? By Presidential decree, the budget is slashed? The Constitution used once again for toilet paper? If the 2006 elections don’t turn the bums out, I fear there may not be a 2008 election.

OK, Yes, I know it’s a nit, at least on the surface. But if we let this get by, it creates precedent. Then what will the next bill not passed by both houses look like?

No, just make it honor the wishes of the people, and bring democracy back to the USA.
