I really hate to be so bleak. I know this post will be a downer. But my point in bringing up this book now is that every passing day makes me think Ms. Atwood is a prophet, not just an incredible author. I can see the day coming when these things may come to pass.

This book should be a frightening wake-up call to anyone who believes in progressive values, in free speech, in right to self determination, in democracy. I would love to be able to assume that you have all read this book, and taken it to heart.

I know so many of you are complacent, and truly believe that “the checks and balances of our system will never let this happen”. What you fail to see, is that the people of Gilead have already gained total control of two of the three branches of our government.

Tomorrow, they will almost certainly take control of the third branch. Why can you not see the obvious truth of this situation? Or is it that you simply choose not to see?

Read the book, if you have not. Read it again if you have not read it recently. Read it why it is still available to read. Your time may be shorter than you think.
