She left for the OR about 11:05 am. The surgery is a long procedure. Shortest estimate I have heard is 6 hours. Longest was potentially 10 hours.

Barbara has been moved to surgery prep. Surgery is imminent. Time for prayers, etc!
It got bumped, again. This time it’s a kidney transplant that got OR priority. Sigh. We are going to get this done, but right now, best estimate is “early afternoon”.

Keystone Kops anyone? If doctors talked to one another …
First it was 10:30am, then 11:00am, then 12:00pm, then at 1:00pm it was cancelled. There were “reasonable” medical reasons for the delays, but that doesn’t change the frustration.
Rescheduled for 9:00am tomorrow Thursday 25-March. We’ll see.
BTW: My Windows Vista netbook refused to boot all day. Finally got it going about 2 hours ago.

Barbara’s surgery is NOT proceeding today. Now they are rescheduling for tomorrow. Keystone Kops day.
Barbara’s surgery is confirmed for tomorrow morning, Wednesday 24-March, as currently indicated on the Facebook event. Actual surgery will begin at 7:30am 10:30am with pre-operative prep beginning some time before that.
Here we go!

Postponed until “mid-week”. She spiked a slight fever Saturday night. Patience is a virtue, right?

lasarina is scheduled to transfer from Kindred to Memorial Hermann tomorrow afternoon at 1pm for pre-operative care. This is a BIG step. The surgery will be at oh-dark-thirty on Monday morning. ( I don’t know the exact time, but last time we were told to expect she would be taken to the OR before dawn, and that was before DST. )
If you want to put her in your prayers, light a candle, send energy or good thoughts, or whatever you do in your tradition, consider this your public authorization to do so. Thank you all so much for everything you have done to support us in the (far too long) journey to this day.
I’m getting lots of requests for updates from various people on Monday as things are occurring. I will do what I can. I plan to post here (wherever you are reading this) when I know the outcome.

We received the news this evening that Barbara’s father passed away in his sleep early this afternoon. Her parents lived in Hot Springs AR. She lost her mother last summer, and due to this long saga was unable to be there for her memorial. Now the same thing is happening with her father.
He was 85 with heart problems and poorly managed diabetes. Nonetheless, he was still able to come here to visit her three times in the last 6 months. This was quite unexpected, and the timing couldn’t be much worse.
Note the title of this post. Need I say more?
