A home of our own.

Well, actually, a townhome. But we have an address again. Just Vanessa and I. We pay the rent, utilities, etc. We will furnish it. We finally got our belongings out of storage and back in our possession.

Trekking Further South

3 Feb

My roommate and I have been couch surfing for several months. We’ve had significant difficulty finding a place in Metro Atlanta area. The market is horrendous in this area, and it likely doesn’t help that I’m openly trans. The current situation is untenable in the long term, and we need to get settled somewhere.

A mutual friend of ours in Daytona Beach reached out and suggested that we join her in Daytona Beach. I know. I can already hear you. Are you kidding? Florida⁉ DeSantis and the GOP? Believe me, I’ve been mulling this over for days. Honestly, it’s not much different than the political situation here in Georgia. We have Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s worse than DeSantis, in my opinion.

Anyway, it’s the only long term offer we’ve gotten. And when her current lease is up, the three of us plan to get a house together. Think a reboot of The Golden Girls. Wish us luck. We may very well need it. Blessed Be.

Roommates

22 Mar

There were issues of lack of respect for the privacy of the individuals, autocratic behavior of the staff toward the residents, and just general mistreatment.

Inevitable consequences of loss of income

26 Sep

When last I checked in, I had just heard about my salary being dropped to zero. I was left as a very part-time employee of the company that had employed me for the past 11 years. The loss of my income was felt, severely, by the household of which I have been a member for the last 18 months or so. As a refresher, I moved in with my daughter and her husband back in March of 2013, after that bad breakup.
