It’s been a while

8 Sep

Yes, I have been absent for a while. I have been busy working out a multi-generational household, and all that entails. Of course, I’m still crying at odd times and for no apparent reason. Continue reading

Noblesse oblige

2 Aug

Noblesse oblige

Noblesse oblige is the motto of the National Honor Society. But before I ever heard of NHS, I knew “noblesse oblige.” I learned it from a teacher in the sixth grade. I came up through school before “TAG” (talented and gifted) was well-known, maybe before the term existed. But my teacher recognized something in me.

I survived

2 Aug

I made it through my first holiday as a widow. I baked bread (by hand), and gave a share to Lugh, as appropriate. The bread was good.

But by the Gods, I miss her.

Blessed Lughnasadh to all who follow the Celtic path

1 Aug

Lughnasadh is a time to celebrate first-harvest, and for the Celts, the end of summer. Not so much on the end of summer here in Southeast Texas, I’m sorry to say. I think I will try my hand at a version of beer-bread for the holiday!

Sign of the Economy?

20 Jul

My 2002 Ford Explorer needs engine work, and I cannot afford to do it. I also really can’t afford to own an SUV and run it in this economy either. Back when I bought it, things were quite different. I was making close to three times what I make now, I had Barbara (who found that SUV for me), and we liked to camp out regularly. Oh, and gas cost about half of what it does now. An SUV made sense. New outfit!

Actually, it’s not that new, but it is the first time I’ve worn it. I really like it. I wore it to go pick up my daughter at work this afternoon.

Anger Phase of Grief

14 Jul

I am pissed. I am angry at my Goddess. I am angry at myself. I blame myself. I know the psychology of grief. And yes, I am in the anger phase.

But it’s more than that, and I have a confession. Continue reading
