I’ve made progress in finding new doctors since leaving Atlanta and settling here in my new home.
I now have a new PCP, an HRT doctor, a cardiologist, and an electrophysiologist (EP). Well, technically, I’ve only met the PA for the cardiologist, for an intake appointment and referral to EP. The cardiologist is booked until January of next year, and I am on a waiting list. I like all of the folks I’ve met so far. Respectful, concerned, and helpful.
I have future appointments for various scans, including an overdue screening mammogram. I expect to hear about the (also overdue) colonoscopy in the relatively near future. Yes, I was ignoring my medical needs for financial (among other) reasons.
The cardio PA suggested compression socks for my POTS symptoms. I got some a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve only had one episode while wearing them. That’s a very major improvement. I don’t sleep in them, and I have had a few middle of the night episodes on my way to the bathroom. That’s to be expected, and I was told specifically not to sleep in them.
Most significantly, I have a date for the ILR procedure. My new EP agreed that my symptoms are sufficiently puzzling to justify that procedure. I don’t have a specific time, as the hospital is supposed to contact me about that between now and then. I’m getting the implant on 30-April, so good wishes are welcome. It’s a very minor procedure. I don’t anticipate any issues.
Finally, something I haven’t yet mentioned. I apparently have “small thyroid nodules” on my thyroid, which might possibly explain some of the other odd symptoms I’ve been having. Specifically, I’m thinking the inability to regulate body temperature consistently. I have an ultrasound of my thyroid scheduled, as well as several blood tests specific to the thyroid. The nodules are very small, and are almost always non-cancerous. I don’t really know much about hypothyroidism, but my PCP considered it worth checking out.
Thanks for reading and following along on my journey.
“It’s always something.” (Either Emily Litella or Roseanne Roseannadanna, both played well by Gilda Radner wayback.) It is, though, isn’t it? I’m sorry you have to do all this stuff, but I love how you never let it mess up your days. Keep taking good care, Janet! ๐๐
