I spoke to my cardiologist a little while ago about the results of my cardiac CT on Monday. He’s concerned mostly, as far as those results, about enlargement of the aortic artery, and also some fairly significant calcification (stenosis) of the aortic valve. He has ordered an additional test regarding those conditions.
I initially thought that test was a Magnetic Resonance Arteriogram, but now I think it might instead be a cardiac CT with IV contrast. It is scheduled for 29-Dec, early in the morning. They are to scan the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. My overall cardiac calcium score was 56 percent, which means an average risk of heart attack for my age and sex.
Stenosis of the aortic valve is often a result of a malformation of that valve. The test on the 29th should help get a clearer idea of that issue. I’ve been prescribed Lipitor for elevated cholesterol as well. It’s estimated by the mail order pharmacy that I should receive that between 20-Dec and 23-Dec.
Forward progress continues.
