Note that I have used the past tense of the verb “to diagnose”. I have completed my self-diagnosis, with the help of a couple of self-administered tests I was directed to online.
I am definitely autistic, based on the results of those tests. The first of those tests, the RAADS-R test, was described by a friend as “a female- and older-oriented RAADS test” with the caveat that “at no point does it claim to be oriented toward the older/female demographic”, but she was directed to it by a group “of just such people who say it has been better at ferreting out autism in our demo[graphic].”
My result on that test: My score is 152. According to the test page:
130 The mean score of autistic people; strong evidence for autism.

The other test I was directed to is called the CAT-Q, and scores the tendency of autistic people to camouflage. This test reports average scores by gender, so it’s a bit more fine grained than the RAADS-R.
The more you camouflage, the more of your autistic proclivities you are likely able to suppress.

On this test, I scored 130 total, which is above average for autistic people as well. Average scores for autistic people, depending on gender, range from 109 to 124. 124.35 is the specific average for autistic females.
And that is how i came to self diagnose my autism. I am autistic.
