I’ve seen my EEG report.
EEG Interpretation and clinical correlation:
This is Abnormal awake and drowsy routine EEG, due to
- Rare left anterior temporal sharp wave discharge was seen
- Frequent intermittent left temporal slowing was appreciated
- No seizures patterns were seen.
This findings are suggestive of an area of possible epileptogenesis over the left anterior temporal region with an increased risk for seizures with an underlying focal cerebral dysfunction which may be structural or functional in its etiology.
My doctor added, in terms of additional interpretation:
This means that during the EEG recording they noticed abnormal electrical activity over the left anterior temporal region, suggesting there is an underlying focus for seizures in this area. We will need to get an MRI of your brain to investigate, and because of this predisposition for seizures, you will need to continue on seizure medication indefinitely.
As I told a friend recently: I’ve started telling my doctors to “think zebra.”
