Ernie, to say that I am sorry for your loss seems so inadequate. There are times when mere words cannot adequately convey the depth of feeling behind them.
As I told you on the BYDLS board, when you are ready to talk and need ears and hearts to listen we will be there.
Barbara was blessed during this long, hard time of ups and downs to have you as her champion. The devotion you showed to her is one of the finest definitions of love that I have ever seen. I know that Barbara’s struggle is now over and she is at peace. One day you will see her again, when the time is right. Until then she will always occupy space in your heart and in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. No person is every truly gone so long as we carry them with us in our hearts, minds and memories. I hope that realization gives you a small measure of comfort.
With deepest sympathy and a hug,
Kellye (from BYDLS)

Ernie, we just heard the news. We had heard she was sick awhile back and I had a candle lit for her and the family. We are very sorry about your loss and please give our condolences to the kids as well.

I’ve started to call and/or write more times than I can count.. I don’t believe Barbara could have had a better care-giver, friend, and companion than she had with you. I do beleive there is a reason for everyone who comes and goes in our life; I’m sure that you were the gods’ blessings upon her and that both your lives were enriched for the time you had together. I’m crying again so I’ll leave it at that. Blessed Be.

Ernie, I am so saddened, as we all are with you. I hope you can feel the love as we float comfort and care to surround you. You broke the mold when it came to caregivers. I’ve never read about such incredibly courageous determination as yours. I could recite flowery prose or offer clumsy thoughts at this time, but I know much of it would not ease your pain. Know that we are with you, that we stand with you, and we sense the depth of your sorrow.
