I don’t have a bed tonight. It’s by my choice. But many many people in this world don’t get that choice. Today is World AIDS Orphans Day. I didn’t know that until a total stranger hit me and several followers with a request to text money to an organization I had never heard of.
I have become cynical in my old age. My initial reaction was to distrust this unwelcome intrusion into my already over-complicated life. So I queried my Twitter followers and asked if they knew anything about the message I got. I received no positive responses. One follower was, like me, skeptical. We conversed about our skepticism.
Then out of the blue, two more people unknown to me jumped into my cynical world. They offered me evidence of the legitimacy of their organization. They were very adamant. So I took the time, now that Barbara is finally resting, and did some research.
Then I texted ahope to 85944. You should too. Because it’s OK to be skeptical, but it feels better to trust, and to help those less fortunate.
