It is time for us to cease fearing it, and to use the word that best defines the Theocratic movement (Religious Right and their cohorts). The enemy is Fascism, or as some scholars are now calling it: Clerical fascism. It is time we all stood together, no matter our religious beliefs, or none at all, and called this evil by its true name. Godwin’s Law does not apply.
Fascism is the true name of the beast against which we all fight. Whether that be the Islamic Fascism the current administration demonizes, or the Religious Right’s form of Christian Fascism. By correctly naming the beast, we cease to paint all Christians and Muslims with that same, hurtful, broad brush. It is not Christianity against which we fight here. It is not Islam against which we fight in the War on Terror®. It is Fascism.
If we choose to ignore that fact, or refuse to call it what it is out of fear, then we have already lost. This is not a game I intend to lose.
