Resume the draft?

They are quietly planning to resume the draft

Text of the letter I wrote my representatives:

I strongly oppose the initiation of a new draft. This action would be completely unnecessary were it not for our involvement in the inappropriate and undeclared wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Rather than preparing to send thousands or even hundreds of thousands more Americans to their deaths in the Middle East, the United States should discontinue its empire building, and pull out of these sovereign nations.

No amount of oil is worth war. No war is ever just. Just as Rome ultimately collapsed from over-extending itself, so too will the US if we do not turn away from this wrong notion.

Please vote No to the resumption of the draft in the United States, and make every effort instead to return our troops home where they belong.
